Richmond, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Rams golf team finished the first of two days of CIAA golf competition at Peaches Golf Club in Richmond, VA after firing a combined team score of 430 that placed them seventh out of nine CIAA teams headed into the final day of play on Tuesday.

The Rams, who played a one-day match yesterday that saw them defeat the St. Paul's College Tigers came back today and used a total team effort to overcome fatigue and finish the day seated seventh overall.

The Rams, who scored a 430 on the afternoon, are currently ahead of Virginia State University (461) and the Tigers of St. Paul's College (500). The Rams are 35 strokes behind the Panthers of Virginia Union University and are 51 strokes behind the Vikings of Elizabeth City State.

The Rams were led by Brett Lindquist who shot a team-low 92 on the afternoon.

The Broncos of Fayetteville State University are in the lead after the first day of competition as they are showing why they are the four-time National Minority Golf Championships title-winner after turning in a 310.

The Eagles of North Carolina Central are close behind the Broncos as they trail by only 35 strokes (345).

The second day of competition will begin tomorrow at Peaches Golf Club at 11:00 am.
